A powerful & moving essay by @HopeJahren about an ugly reality: Science has a sexual assault problem
Yesterday the New York Times published a powerful and moving essay by one of our colleagues – Dr. Hope Jahren – in which she writes about being sexually assaulted while conducting field work. As you can read in the study by Clancy et al. to which she alludes in her essay it is a problem faced by a truly frightening number of our fellow field biologists. To some of you this will not be news; others will be unaware that the problem even exists. I encourage you to read this reflect on what we can do to make sure none of our colleagues have to endure what Hope did.
One of our Subject Editors – Terry McGlynn – has written very thoughtful reflection on her essay in which he asks what can do to change this situation and where we go from here. Please go and contribute your thoughts.
